JVC AV-27720 TV Problem: Picture goes to horizonal...

First, a little background. This TV worked fine until cats used the TV top case as a launching point. The screen would compress, then it finally went to just a horizontal white line in the center. Note that before it went completely bad, I could press on the top case and cause the picture to go back to full size.Upon disassembly, I noticed that the only thing the top case was pressing on was a grey cable that is routed around the picture tube and is terminated into a 2 pin connector on the main PCB. The cable does have creases where the case was pressing. If I disconnect the cable, nothing changes.I'm an old electronics tech (i.e. rusty), and I don't have schematics. I can perform basic AC/DC voltage tests, but don't have a signal tester/Oscope.I'd hate to throw this TV out! Can you provide any insights or instructions on how to troubleshoot? Thanks,Joe (joejjt)
