JVC AV36870 TV (36

Question

I picked up this 36" beast at no cost. Its in perfect shape. Owner told me it would not power on via the front panel switch or the remote.

Any ideas where to start looking? I have not tried it myself yet, nor have I opened it up. I am an electronic engineer and reasonably well equipped at home with test equipment, although my strengths are more radio/audio.
