I bought a JVC GR-D370U a little over a month ago and today was finally the day I could tried to use it. I bought the cassettes and everything and I managed to record something for about 15 seconds but then, when I tried it again (after messing around with the setting, putting the date/time and so on) it won't record. The only thing I notice, is that when I am on REC mode, on the top right hand corner, it says --- min. I think thats the problem but the cassettes in there, I rewinded it and everything and still nothing. Does anyone know what could it be? Please, let me know!

  1. According to the manual for this model (I found it online - see below):

"- - - min means the camcorder is calculating the remaining time.  When the remaining time reaches 2 minutes, the indication starts blinking."

So, I have 2 possibilities for you.  Neither would have anything to do with you setting the time/date etc.

    1.  Is the indication blinking?  If so, maybe you fast-forwarded instead of rewound.  Just trying not to overlook the obvious.

    2.  If not (more likely), my guess is that the tape snapped/broke inside the videocassette as it reached the beginning when you rewound.

Try this - use a different (new) blank tape.

If the other tape broke from snapping on the rewind, just consider it a defective tape.

If the tape is from a decent manufacturer, you should be able to get a replacement one free under the warranty.  Or, maybe you should avoid this brand of tape (whatever it was).
