JVC Everio GZ-MG37u Cant Connect to Pc

Question

Hi!My PC can not detect my digital camcorder. The model is the JVC Everio GZ-MG37u. When I bought the camera, it did not have the USB connector. I used the USB cable of my portable hard disk drive which has a mini-usb connector at one end.I checked the manual and all it said was connect the camera with the usb cable and turn it on and the computer should be able to detect it. I set the camera to the record and play function and it could not be detected.My PC uses Windows XP service pack 2.Hope you can help me

i cant find my cd software for my jvc everio gz_mg37u cancorder what shall i do now?
