JVC GZ MG330 Video Camera?

Is this a good video camera to get? And are there any other comparable cameras or better ones for about the same price?

Piece of junk.

The quality of picture provided by digital tape(or SSD) is still superior.

Do you really think that a cheapo camcorder can provide enough processing power to encode efficiently onto a hard drive.....not to mention 2 pass encoding.

Stay away from anything with a hard drive inside or a dvd writer inside...

I have that camera and I love it!  It is very light and small and the video looks great.  The JVC DVD burner I got with it works great without a computer.  The software worked great too.

People who are really into video probably would want a camera with more features, but that camera seems great to me.
