JaVale McGee drops 22-11; Leads Washington Wizards to a 98 – 77 win over Detroit Pistons – NBA 
On Sunday night at the Palace of Auburn Hills, JaVale McGee erupted with 22 points and 11 rebounds as Washington Wizards throttled the resurgent Detroit Pistons 98-77.
The Wizards recorded their second victory on the road in the season and are still amongst the bottom feeders in the Eastern Conference.
Wizards dominated the game for the majority of the 48 minutes. In the opening quarter, they took an early 8-2 lead which they maintained throughout the frame. At the end of segment they were up, 26-18.
In the 2nd period Detroit , led by Greg Monroe’s 11 points, came back strongly and managed to claw off the deficit, tying the quarter at 45 each.
With an early 10-3 run in the 3rd frame, the visitors put themselves ahead again, but the Pistons bounced back to take a two point lead midway. Washington struck swiftly though and capped the third quarter with 15-2
spurt to end it 74-63. the Wizards entered the last 12 minutes of the game in a position of strength.
With another 17-4 run in the early moments of final quarter, Washington took a phenomenal lead of 91-67, with 06:11 in hand.
The Pistons could only narrow the margin of their defeat as time expired, final score Wizards 98-77. The game had 6 lead changing moments and 7 ties.
The Wizards shot 46.8% from the floor and 85.7% from the charity stripe, but also committed 21 turnovers.
Four Wizards’ came up with double figure scores, including McGee. Others were guard Nick Young, who netted 22, while Jan Vesely and Rashard Lewis were also in the mix as they scored 10 apiece. Notably, John Wall recorded his career
best 15 assists and barely missed a double-double as he scored 9 points.
"I only took one shot in the first half. I wasn't being aggressive like I was the other games”. Wall said. “I got that first basket to go in and found a rhythm. It opened up my teammates to make shots and made it tough for them
to help on me. We did a great job of picking them apart and finding guys."
The loss ended a 5 game winning streak for the Pistons.
Playing in front of the home crowd couldn’t spurt Pistons, as they shot their season’s lowest 32.6% from the field that included 27.3% in the second frame.
The only bright spot for Pistons tonight was Greg Monroe, who scored 27 points and had 6 rebounds. He also was the only player to score more than 1 basket after halftime for Detroit.
Rodney Stuckey netted 11 and Tayshaun Prince had 10 points and 6 rebounds.
This game was a nightmare for Detroit guards as Rodney Stuckey, Brandon Knight, Ben Gordon, Walker Russell Jr. and Will Bynum shot a combined 16.7% from the field and netted 22 only.
