1 (Round of 96) heats that went down at Ballito, South Africa, on Tuesday, July 2, 2013.
While Jabour clinched top honours in the seventh heat, his compatriot Jay Thompson finished just behind him in second place to accompany the winner into the next round. Peru’s Cristobal De Col and Australia’s Davey Brand, however, found themselves out of
the contention of the event title after finishing in third and fourth place respectively.
Australia’s Davey Cathels earned his place in the second round as well after finishing behind Woods in the eighth heat. South Africa’s Travis Logie finished third, while his compatriot Chad Du Toit had to settle for fourth position. Both the surfers were
consequently eliminated from the competition.
Australia’s Matt Banting accompanied Muniz into the next round after taking the first-runner position. America’s Evan Geiselman and Brazil’s Luel Felipe rounded out the bottom-two positions, which consequently led to their early ejection from the contention
