Jack Bobridge to leaves Team Orica-GreenEdge for 2013
Rumours of Australian cyclist, Jack Bobridge leaving his home side Team Orica-GreenEdge are roaming around the cycling world as first reported by the Dutch website, Telegraaf.nl.
The website also mentioned the name of the cyclist’s future team and briefed that Team Rabobank might be the 2013 home for Bobridge.
His Australian manager, Jason Bakker, told Cyclingnews following this morning's report, "he's re-evaluating his personal and professional life and he's been doing that in consultation with GreenEdge. It's completely transparent".
The 23-year-old marked his professional debut with Team Garmin-Transitions in 2010 and stayed with the team by the end of 2011 season.
Team GreenEdge was given the World Tour status in 2012 and Shayne Bannan proposed Jack to represent the Australian team in its debut season.
The cyclist was given a two-year contract in 2012 but he is now looking to leave the team because of “personal reasons” as noted by the website.
Bobridge is considered as one of the best track cyclist but his one year stay with Bannan’s team could not really produce the desired results.
He failed to register a single victory in the 2012 season and now hopes to have a fresh start with the Dutch side.
The Australian was preparing for the 2012 Olympic Games but was unfortunately after his name came up at a drink-driving incident in Spain along with the team’s neo-pro Micheal Hepburn.
"One of the best things about riding the track is that you get to be part of an Australian team regularly at world cups and the world championships,” Bobridge briefed on signing with the team.
“Joining GreenEdge will let me ride as part of an Australian team all year round, whether I'm on the track or the road".
"But more importantly the team is right behind my Olympic ambitions on the track”.
His former track teammates, Cameron Meyer and Luke Durbridge have diverted their attentions to the road cycling but Bobridge has not shown any intentions of changing his concentration.
Only time will tell, if the cyclist manages to get out of the contract and signs Team Rabobank for the season ahead.
