Jack Brown wins Men’s 100m breast-stroke crown: Day three – 2011 USA Swimming Sectionals, Columbia
Day three of the 2011 USA Swimming Sectionals, Columbia began in impressive fashion with the dominating effort of Jack Brown in Missouri, on Friday, July 22.
The session of the meet conducted several events, where Jack Brown won the Men’s 100m breast-stroke crown, while Rachel Ripley snared the Women’s 100m breast-stroke title. Nicole Menzel of Razorback grabbed the gold medal in the Women’s 400m freestyle, whereas,
Eastman Holloway of SwimTulsa won the gold medal in the Men’s 400m freestyle.
Heather Lundstrom of Parkway took home the Women’s 200m butterfly crown, while Nickolaus Orf captured the Men’s 200m butterfly title. Elizabeth Braun of Razorback won the Women’s 100m back-stroke title and John Higgins of Topeka earned the gold medal in
the Men’s 100m back-stroke meet.
Initially, Brown picked up the top seed in the 100m breast-stroke with a winning time of 1 minute and 03.86 seconds. More importantly, he broke Roman Sludnov’s previous record of 1 minute and 04.50 seconds, set back in 2009. Meanwhile, Gage Crosby of Razorback
wound up second in a time of 1 minute and 05.11 seconds. Griffin Peavey of KC Blazer settled third on the podium in a time of 1 minute and 05.99 seconds.
Rachel Ripley won the Women’s 100m breast-stroke title with a sterling time of 1 minute and 11.25 seconds, while Nicole Daniels of Wichita finished second in 1 minute and 12.79 seconds. Danielle Spradlin earned third place honours with a time of 1 minute
and 14.36 seconds.
In the meantime, the Women’s 400m freestyle crown was clinched by Nicole Menzel with a winning time of 4 minutes and 21.27 seconds, whereas, Eastman Holloway captured the Men’s 400m freestyle title with a triumphant time of 4 minutes and 05.07 seconds.
Heather Lundstrom of Parkway snared the Women’s 200m butterfly crown with a victorious time of 2 minutes and 18.11 seconds, while Nickolaus Orf of Parkway snagged the Men’s 200m butterfly title with an impressive time of 2 minutes and 05.95 seconds.
Elizabeth Braun won the Women’s 100m back-stroke crown with a time of 1 minute and 04.05 seconds, while John Higgins grabbed the Men’s 100m back-stroke title with a winning time of 57.84 seconds.
