  1. Rocky by ko in the 6th round.  Like I said before, no one in the history of boxing had the desire to win that Rocky did and thats why he never lost and I dont think he ever would have lost regaurdless of what era he boxed in.

  2. I May prove unpoplar here, But I pick Dempsey ( And I,m a Rocky fan)

Everything Rock could do, Dempsey could do better. Rock was a slower starter, and did damage over a period of time of several rounds.Dempsey was onslaught from rd. 1. I think these savage head and body attacks in the early rounds would take something out of Rocky.

Maybe leaving him to hurt to make a comeback.

Jack would prove to be one of the most dangerous fighters rocky faced.

Jack was way faster, fleeter of foot, and more accurate. As far as power I think they were close, but Jack having the far better hooks and body attack.

Rocky was a great inside fighter. But so was Jack. Maricano would have met his match on the inside, and then some.

Jack could beat him on the outside, being taller and longer limbed, and moving in and out of range faster than Rocky.

Also Dempsey threw more multi-combo,s than Maricano. From body to head, and head to body. and was explosive with these combo,s.

I think Jack would slowly start to overwhelm the great Rock, cutting and hurting him early on. It may prove too much for even the Rock,s great heart. ( But then again it was Rocky-I could be wrong)

  3. I was going to say what "toughguy" said above me, right on.

  4. Marciano wins with a knockout before the 6th or 7th round.  Rocky had the desire to win and was only knocked down twice in his career for a total of 7 seconds. He fought 49 fights and is the only undefeated heavy weight champion of all time. He has the 2nd highest knockout percentage ever. No one can match the desire to win that Rocky had, plain and simple.

  5. Great Fight.

Its easy to say that Rocky was better when he beat Walcott.  Louis was old, shopworn and weighed down with stress from all angles.  The Walcott fight was the true test because Rocky was PUSHED more.  The same holds true for both Charles fights.

I laugh when people dont give Marciano credit for opposition.  He fought the best AVALIABLE competition of his time.  Like Larry Holmes,  its not Rocky's fault that Joe Louis took all the great opponents with him.  LIke Jones after Leonard and Holmes after Ali,  Rocky cleaned up the best of the rest.

I have to give Marciano the edge in opposition.  Dempsey beat great fighters too but he didnt fight the best avaliable.  Though its not his fault,  he was willing to fight Harry Willis but his manager wisely steered away from it.

Politics played a major part in that.  Like we often say:  We will never know how great Ali might have been.   We also will never know how great Dempsey MIGHT NOT have been.  There was also Sam Langford.  As great as he was, he was well past his prime but still served as one of Dempsey's best sparring partners.

Dempsey would tear Rocky's face up in the early going.  THe fight might be based largely on the rules of the day.   Since Rocky was allowed to fight with a split nose, against Charles,  I'll go with the assumption that the fight would not be stopped in such a situation.   Everything Charles did to Marciano,  Dempsey could do more.

I really think the difference would boil down to heart.   Neither man had any sign of ''yellow'' in him.  Dempsey's reasons for not fighting Black fighters was as much political as personal.  Still, I dont think he was afraid of anyone.   Rocky ducked no one so no question here.

Under today's rules,  Dempsey would stop Marciano in the middle rounds.  Rocky would take too much punishment and the ref would stop the fight with both fighters still fresh but with Rocky's face looking like 5 miles of bad road.

IF Rocky is allowed to continue fighting, such as the rules of his time and before,  he would whether the storm long enough to take a toll on Dempsey's body.  No one ever fought Jack the way Rocky would.  Dempsey never had to ''Suck wind" in the later rounds.

After 8 rounds Marciano would LOOK like a wreck.  Dempsey,  normally with good stamina,  would find himself pushed to unfamiliar limits.  Rocky's ducking and crouching style wouldnt do him much good here because Dempsey is one of the few who could  "Break in Rocky's house".  Cant hide here.

Rocky would have to rely on his toughness and ability to take punishment and also dish it out later.  ITs all he would have in this fight because Dempsey would surely ''bring the rain''.   Still,  Rocky's body and arm attack would stand the test.

Jack would finally show signs of ware around the 11th round.  That distance is nothing to Dempsey.  However, he never had to deal with the kind of pressure Marciano would bring to him.  Rocky would START to work at this time.

Rounds 12 thru 14 would be more of Rocky breaking the armor on Dempsey's offense.  A right to the chin, during an inside struggle,  would floor Dempsey.  He rises and Rocky goes back to work again.

Not one for clinching,  Dempsey would fire back but, by this time,   Rocky is not at full momentum.  With his back to the ropes,  Dempsey is shaken by a right uppercut.  As he sags into the ropes,  Marciano lands a final right to the head and a left as the referee steps in and Dempsey lands on one knee.

    Marciano by KO in 14

  6. Rocky Marciano in the 7th round with a knockout.

  7. This is a classic matchup.  Both could hit like a mule, both could take punishment though nobody was tougher than the Rock.  Dempsey has the faster hands.  Both men would meet in ring center and go at it and it would be a terriffic fight.  Nobody could stand with Rocky and take the beating he could give you not even Dempsey.  Both men would take turns rocking the other and it would come down to willpower, heart, desire and conditioning and both men would show the wears and tears of a brutal fight.  Marciano finally wears down and knocks out Dempsey in the 14th round.
