  1. Lol at all these answers, dempsey was a great fighter, but he would never be able to beat liston, lennox, holyfield, tyson, charles(in his prime),frazier or holmes, he was good but he fought in a different era where race was still a factor in boxing and many of the boxers u mentioned fought in an era where boxing had already evolved a lot as a sport toughguy's projections are completelt unrealistic because most of the boxers u mentioned were just as strong if not stronger than dempsey and definetely had a much better defense.... dempsey would not have lasted against the guys i mentioned, but i think that he is the sentimental favorite for many guys who just want to have a boxer they could identify with (white) but the reality is that dempsey would not have won against these guys, their level of competition and their skills were better than dempsey's and many of them had similar knock out power and better chins. dempsey wouldnd have won against the guys i mentioned

  3. Jack DEMPSEY  vs the Following

Jersey Joe Walcott:  Walcott shakes Dempsey a few times early and leads on points in the 6th when Dempsey finally corners him and finishes him with a right, followed by a combination against the ropes.

    Dempsey by KO in 6

Ezzard Charles: Give and take for the entire fight with neither fighter holding a clear edge.  Ezzard scores a knockdown in round 7.  However, the battle takes a greater toll on Ezzard over the course of the bout.

    Dempsey by KO in 14

Sonny Liston: Dempsey hits the deck 3 times in the first two round, being saved by the bell in the second round from the third of the knockdowns.  Sonny seeks to finish Jack in round 3 but Jack's head is finally clear and he shakes Sonny before the bell ending the 3rd.

With the stronger Liston slowing down and the more active and better conditioned Dempsey now the fresher fighter,  the middle rounds are even.  A RIGHT-LEFT-RIGHT puts Liston down for the count in round 7.  He rises and Dempsey is all over him.  LIston goes down again for good

    Dempsey by KO in 7

Joe Frazier: An uppercut in the second round nearly finishes Joe.   He falls again in the 4th.  Gaining his momentium in the middle rounds,  after surviving the early ones,  Joe uses his stronger lower body to force Dempsey back.  Dempsey isnt used to this kind of pressure and Joe leaves him little room to punch.

In round 9 a right off the ropes shakes Joe.  Frazier answers with a powerful left hook that stuns Dempsey.  Frazier is unable to finish him before the bell.

Joe continues the pressure and, finally, in round 13, Dempsey is cought against the ropes as Frazier unloads two left hooks, the second as Dempsey is on his way to the canvas.

    Frazier by KO in 13

George Forman: Forman is shaken badly by a vicious attack in the opening round.  He collects himself and answers with a strong uppercut which puts Dempsey on his back.  Jack rises but is hurt.  Forman puts him down again before the bell.

In the second Dempsey goes down again.  He's up and manages to survive the round.  The 3rd and 4th are more a matter of Dempsey trying to mount an attack and Forman keeping up the pressure.  Finally, in round 5 Forman traps Dempsey in a corner and finishes him with an uppercut and a flurry of punches as the referee steps in.

    Forman by KO in 5

Larry Holmes.  Larry does a lot of holding and clinching in the early rounds and suffers a knockdown in round 9.  By this time Dempsey is a bit behind on points and its becoming clear that Larry will not wilt so easily.

Larry loads up on right hands, measuring with the left and puts Dempsey on one knee in the 13th.  Dempsey is up and bobbing and weaving as many punches as he can.  He wins the last two but lose the fight on a close decision

    Holmes by Decision in 15

Michael Spinks:  Spinks shakes Dempsey early but only for a moment.  Dempsey unleashes a vicious bady attack and hurts Spinks just before the end of the bell.  In round 2, Dempsey traps Spinks against the ropes.  Spinks tries to fight back but to no avail.

A right to the body and a left to the chin stuns Spinks.  a RIGHT-LEFT-RIGHT finishes him.

    Dempsey by KO in 2

Mike Tyson: Both fighters collide at ring center with Mike forcing Dempsey back.  Mike shakes Dempsey with a right against the ropes and attempts to finish him.  A right uppercut-left hook backs Mike off, rocking him on his heels.  Dempsey once again meets him at ring center and, like two snarling beasts, both trade blows at the bell

Round 2:  Much like round 1 but, this time Tyson catches Dempsey with a wide left hook and puts him on his back.  Jack rises on shaky legs.  Mike swarms with a body attack and puts Jack down again with another left to the top of the head.   Jack rises.   Mike steps in and finishes Dempsey with a solid right to the chin.

    Tyson by KO in 2

Lennox Lewis.: Simple numbers here.  6'5" 245lb vs 6'1 195lbs.  Lewis attacks Dempsey in much the same way he attacked Golatta.  Because Dempsey is a pressure fighter,  Lennox doesnt have far to search.

    Lennox by Ko in 2

Evander Holyfield:  Evander will beat Dempsey from pillar to post but fail to seriously hurt him.  There really isnt that much difference in size between the two.  Dempsey punches harder.  Holyfield cant land flush punches late because Dempsey is in his chest.  Dempsey is the busier fighter down the stretch.

    Dempsey by Decision in 15

Riddick Bowe:  I cant see a lazy fighter like Bowe over a well established champion like Dempsey.  I know Bowe is no Jess Willard but I doubt he will be in the shape he was only ONCE in his career,  against Evander.

I see the often cocky Bowe underestimating Dempsey, thinking  "Some little white guy aint gonna beat me".  He thought the same about Golotta......................and got his butt handed to him,  before taking the easy way out

Dempsey pushes that lazy lump of flesh around all night and earns a decision
