  1. Some would call this a joke.  People tend to look at the historical significance of a champion and past what he has done in the ring.

Spinks isnt even in the same stratosphere with Dempsey in terms of historical significance.  But lets look at the ring performances of each.  Spinks upset an old, unmotivated Ali.  Dempsey's accomplishments speak for themselves.  Still,  Spinks was a rugged fighter who didnt have the sense to back up.  It wasnt in his make up.  Dempsey was the same way.

Spinks weighs just over 200 and Dempsey is just under 200,  not much difference here.  Both were wild fighters.  The difference is that Dempsey is the harder puncher.  Most would think Im crazy for saying that Spinks has a chance.  So I wont say that.

What I will say is that he could make it an interesting fight.  Spinks is no pushover.  He doesnt back off.  His biggest problem is that he was a small heavyweight in a big division.  Dempsey was no giant either.

Spinks would go right at Dempsey who would be glad to meet him at ring center.  Spinks would have some marginal success, pushing Dempsey back in the first two rounds.  That's about all the success he would have.  Dempsey would stand his ground and pick up the pace.  He's a fast starter but Spinks would meet him at ring center and, for a few rounds, make it an interesting fight.   He would not fold.

After about 4--5  rounds Dempsey's attack would begin to slow Spinks down.  Spinks would spend more time on the ropes.  He would never stop fighting.  More of the same for the next few rounds with Spinks' attack slowing but never giving up.

Finally, the referee would see enough.  Spinks is taking punishment in the corner and the referee stops the contest.  Surprisingly, Spinks remains upright.

    Dempsey by TKO in 9

  2. Poor Leon will get hurt.

  3. Physically both were eqaulk in wiight, size and reach but Demsey was just a harder puncher. Dempsey w/ a KO3

  4. I saw Spinks fight Gerrie Coetzee and Coetzee almost knocked him out of the ring. Spinks had gone straight at Coetzee and for a short time this seemed to put him off his stride, until he realised Leon didn't actually have anything (other than courage) and put him away.

Leon would come straight out to meet Dempsey and would be destroyed in the first round. He might be knocked out of the ring if he was standing near the ropes at the time.

    Dempsey wins KO1.

  5. When Holmes realized the fix was in, he put Leon away in a round and a half.

Dempsey would probably put Leon in a box by 2 rounds.  No more.  Think "Willard" style beatdown for the poor, cocaine addicted Spinks.

  6. Galactus was right. Leon beat a Ali that was very unmotivated. He didn't train! and he was way past his prime and sported a belly.

Leon was a come right out you type of fighter. That would play right into Dempsey's power. Dempsey was vicious.

Dempsey by Ko inside of 3 rds!

  7. leon will be game, bur dempsey will show no mercy and kayo him in 3.
