Jack Dexter likely to meet Black Caviar at Royal Ascot
Many big horses have failed in their attempt to get the better of Australian star mare, Black Caviar. The 7-year-old is easily one of the best runners of all time, holding 24 successive wins under her belt. The Peter G. Moody-trained is likely to extend
her unbeaten run at Royal Ascot this summer, where she is likely to meet another talented but relatively inconsistent runner, Jack Dexter.
The two dangerous horses will meet at Ascot, if Jack Dexter shines in his next appearance at Doncaster, where he will shoulder top weight in the Bet365 Handicap on Saturday. He has been declared as the 13-2 second favourite behind Duke Of Firenze, who is
Sir Michael Stoute’s charge. The contest will be held over six furlongs for a prize of £50,000.
The Jim Goldie-trained put his campaign back on the winning ways at the end of March, when beating Captain Ramius by half a length at Doncaster. After three consecutive victories, he suddenly lost his rhythm when finishing 10th in the Betfred
"Bonus King Bingo" Wentworth Stakes (Listed Race), last November.
But he has made a terrific comeback and looks in good shape at the moment. The connections are therefore very confident for Saturday’s meeting. Goldie stated ahead of the event:
"If he runs well on good ground we might try to risk him on faster. If he does well then we'd be looking at Royal Ascot, and probably the King's Stand. He's won over five furlongs and so did his father.
"He's still progressive. It may be the cut in the ground that's improving him, or it may be he's just improving. With the type of good-moving horse he is, I'd be surprised if good ground doesn't suit him. It's exciting stuff and hopefully he can go on filling
his boots."
The son of Orientor, out of Glenhurich, has six victories to his credit at the moment. The 4-year-old kicked off his career in last April when winning a couple of close races after finishing second on the debut run. His camp is expecting him to do something
similar this summer too.
