  1. Darcy was a great middleweight and Dillon fought mostly at light heavyweight.  Dillon was a fearless relentless fighter that often fought and beat bigger men so I believe he would have been a little too strong for Darcy.  Dillon by 10th round technical knockout.

  2. I've always been a bit facinated by the Les Darcy story. A man shunned by his country at that time , not allowed to box and then dying young. Makes me think of Stanely Ketchel. Darcy and Ketchel, two tragic stories, both young and blazing through the boxing ranks, and still not even in their primes. I honestly feel if they had lived they would have been great legends, their names mentioned FAR more.

As far as size there wasnt a huge difference.

    Jack Dillon-5'7 1/2 - 140-183 lbs.

    Les Darcy-5'7 - 126-165 lbs.

Dillon having a slight advantage in weight.

Dillon was tough, and a hard-hitter with very good stamina and could be aggresive (makings of a good boxer.)

Les Darcy was strong with VERY long arms he used to his advantage. He could brawl AND box. Was Australian Middleweight and heavyweight champ by 19 yrs. old! A boxing historian, Jack Stitt, wrote " Darcy was never actually hurt in the ring, never knocked down, never cut, never staggered, and so strong and powerfull, he made opponents look second rate."

This qualifies Darcy to give Jack a very tough fight. And this would prove to be a good one. Dillon was a very hard hitter (likened to Jack Dempsey, and that say's alot.) so this bout could sway at any time, yet Darcy WAS rugged and I feel the craftier boxer. Someone who hit as hard as Dillon you can never count out, yet I still pick Darcy. The reason why is Jack Dillon fought Eddie McGoorty and lost twice to Ed. Les Darcy Fought Eddie McGoorty twice and beat Ed both times. Also Frank Klaus  lost to George Chip and yet Klaus beat Jack Dillon , and in turn Les Darcy beat George Chip

Eddie McGoorty said, after losing to Darcy, "That boys the best fighter I ever fought (Remember McGoorty beat Dillon twice.) he's the best. He's hard to hit and harder still to hurt. I dont think there's anyone who could beat him."

So my pick is Les Darcy in a hard battle. Everyone who beat Dillon, lost to Darcy.

    Good matchup.
