Jack McLoughlin grabs Boys 1500m freestyle gold – State Teams SC Championships
Jack McLoughlin of QLD grabbed gold medal of the Boys 1500m freestyle in 16-17 years age category on last day of the 2012 State Teams Short Course Championships at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra on Monday, October 8.
The 17-year-old McLoughlin spoiled the party of his opponents in the distant freestyle event as he cruised his way towards the wall for gold medal.
He showed no mercy to his opponents in the sixty-lap freestyle discipline and transpired on the finishing blockade for gold medal by producing a time of 15 minutes and 26.85 seconds.
The champion was followed by Hayden Rea of QLD, who stayed nearly seven seconds apart and proved his mettle for silver medal of the event by reporting a time of 15 minutes and 33.07 seconds.
Rea was trailed by Alec Morris of NSW, who stayed five body lengths behind and emerged on the wall as third best finisher by reporting an effort of 15 minutes and 38.01 seconds.
Morris was traced by Ethan Owens of SA, who was 4.04 seconds slower from securing third spot on the podium and settled as fourth best finisher by clocking a time of 15 minutes and 42.05 seconds.
Fifth position of the event was obtained by Lynd Goldsmith of WA, who stayed almost two pool lengths apart and touched the wall with an effort of 16 minutes and 07.81 seconds.
Sixth spot of the race was obtained by Adrian Waydock of SA, who was one and a half body length behind and posted an effort of 16 minutes and 09.35 seconds.
Waydock was traced by Sam Warrick of VIC, who stayed 0.06 seconds behind and touched the wall for seventh position by producing an effort of 16 minutes and 09.41 seconds.
Eighth position of the race was obtained by Mitchell Pratt of VIC, who remained 6.58 seconds behind and touched the wall with an effort of 16 minutes and 15.99 seconds.
Furthermore, McLoughlin was overjoyed with his invincible effort in the 1500m discipline and stressed that he would try hard to accomplish the same at the upcoming competitions.
