He has 73 PGA Tour wins, which is a tie for the 2nd all time best record at the PGA Tour winners list.
He is an icon and has inspired numerous golfers of every generation with his unmatched legacy at the game of golf.
Nicklaus retired from professional golf in 2005 and pursued his life as an analyst, course designer and an instructor. The 72-year-old has seen golf becoming the most technical game, as he is one of the key players who started golf as a popular sport.
He has helped good players become legends. His disciples include the great Tiger Woods, the current US Open Champion Rory McIlroy and many more.
The USGA has honoured the legend Jack Nicklaus with an honorary gold medal, “Jack Nicklaus Medal”, which has been given to US Open winners since 1895 but did not have a name to it.
The same medal has been named after Jack Nicklaus and will be given to the US Open Champion, starting from this year’s US Open.
The USGA has also confirmed a “Jack Nicklaus Room” to its museum to cherish Nicklaus and his brilliant career. Nicklaus was happy and had a little bit of humour added to his thoughts about USGA honouring him as a legend.
“Kind of neat, isn't it? Take an old guy and honour him. I think that's pretty nice. It's pretty humbling and meaningful,” said Nicklaus.
The USGA has also honoured Nicklaus with a documentary named “Jack's First Major”, which will cover his entire career as a golfer.
Jack Nicklaus remains the best golfer that has ever lived. His contribution remains outstanding and deserves the honours the USGA has given to him. His legend lives on and he continues inspiring young golfer all over the planet.
