  1. jack

  2. Go with the Shiba Inu. We have a Jack Russell now, and I'll be honest he is a terror. But not all dogs are like this. If you want an energtic, hyper, sometimes aggressive dog go with a Jack. But I recommend a Shiba Inu

  3. If you are considering getting a Shiba Inu, I think you really need to do some research first. Some people love them, but most people find them to be.. well, a little strange, as dogs go. They're more like cats than dogs in a way. They're really unlike any other dogs I've ever encountered, and I would not recommend one to first-time dog owners.

  4. Jack russell'scan be a bit nippy and dont do well with other dogs. A Shibu Inu would be my choice if i had to pick out of the two, but really consider a golden retriever! I have a boy named Chance, and he is wonderful. I also have a girl chihuahua named Ashley and Chance is great with her!!!

    Good Luck!

  5. both are very high strung breeds.  as long as you know what your involvement is with those breeds, i wouldn't worry too much

  6. I would do research on both breeds and see which one most fits your lifestyle.

  7. neither a pug.

or I would adopt a dog that isn't a specific breed.

  8. I haven't known a person/family with a Jack Russel who have not had complaints about them. They are not a good breed to have unless you are very patient, willing to take them for long walks and/or to the dog park everyday and can train a dog well. They are also a bad breed for peeing/pooping inside if they are not getting enough attention. I'd go for the Shiba.

  9. A jack russel is a good choice if you are active daily. It likes to go for runs or walks and likes to play tug o war. My jack russel loves to swim and go on boat rides. When he was a puppy he tried to bite the wood or the wires in my house so we had to watch him and we gave him chew toys so then he stopped. They are very affectionate and are good watch dogs. They are small and do not shed much. They definitely are protective of their loved ones. They easily get attached to new people or animals. They are all around good dogs.

    Hope this helped!

  10. jack russell its adorable!!!

  11. Well i have a Jack Russell and they are very energetic. Don't get me wrong my dog is very very sweet but she gets a little territorial around strangers. She barks a lot at strangers also because all she wants is someone to pet or give attention to her. They are good dogs but Jack Russel's are very energetic and always want attention.

  12. Shiba Inu - I think a Jack Russell would require too much work. (Lol) That is, unless you like hyper-active pooches. :3

  13. Which one would *I* rather have?

Without hesitation or a second thought I'd have to go with a Jack Russell Terrier.

Why? They've been in my family for years and years. I love everything about them.

I also compete in shows with ours. We take them hunting.. etc. I've shown, worked, and studied them for 9 YEARS... and I've loved every single day of those 9 years.

Right now I have 6 Jack Russell Terriers. Every one of them is unique and special in their own way. I love them all to death.

I'd choose Jack Russell Terrier, every single time.

  14. Shiba Inu! They have a personality that only an owner can love :-)

The JRT is a much higher energy dog. So depends on how active you are. Both dog breeds are a challenge to take care of and will become destructive if left alone for too long. Both are extremely intelligent and need good mental stimulation, or they will find their own - and you really don't want that.
