Jack Wilshere believes Arsenal can challenge Manchester United for the title
Arsenal’s nineteen year old central midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jack-Wilshere-c17463, believes that Arsenal still have the ability to give the Red Devils a run for their money in the race for the Premier League title this season.
Manchester United currently find themselves sitting pretty at the top of the League standings. Alex Ferguson’s men are 4 points clear of the Gunners and also have a game in hand.
Reflecting upon his team’s performance against high spending Manchester City at the Emirates on Wednesday, the England international commented,
"We showed [against Manchester City] we can dominate games. At the end of the day, we wanted a goal but it's a point and we look forward to catching United. I think they will be delighted with the results but they have still got to come here so it's still
really open. When they come here, we can beat them."
The youngster’s comments were in response to the Gunners failing to score at home against a seemingly ‘defensive’ side put out by Roberto http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323. Alex Ferguson’s men on the other hand, were the only side in the top 5 that were able to take all 3 points
this week. The holiday period was evidently a busy time in the Premier League and the Arsenal player recognises that his team should emulate United’s knack of grinding out results if the Gunners are to have any realistic chance of challenging for top honours
in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749.
The Emirates has historically been a fortress for the Gunners. This often leads away sides opting for a defensive strategy to knick a point. Wilshere conceded that his team needed to learn to break down their opponents. However, the Arsenal number 19 was
quick to add that the amount of hard work put in by his team in training was evident as they simply battered their opponents in terms of possession and chances created on the night.
Building on the fine run of form, the game that saw Arsenal turn over a leaf was the clash against their London rivals Chelsea FC in the eyes of the Arsenal playmaker as he commented,
"After the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 game we all thought this could be our season. Now we think it's a new year and a new start and we are really going to push on. We are undefeated this year and hopefully we can keep going like that."
Arsenal really have started off this year with a completely different attitude. However, if the Gunners wish to have any say on the fate of the title this term, they should learn to grind out results when things aren’t going their way and aim to be consistent
for the latter half of the season.
