  1. I say trace the shape of a vine onto green paper and have the kids cut the vine out. You can even add some leaves if you'd like. Then glue the vine to a background paper. Paint glue at the very bottom of the vine, and dip that bottom part into dirt. Then let the kids glue bean seeds to the bottom of the vine. Cut a yellow sun to place in the corner of the art, and a small sticker or precut watering can next to the vine at the bottom. It seems like a lot, but it's easier than it sounds, and it covers a lot of early skills in one activity.

  2. GET some old shoes and let them paint the shoes, my preschool teacher read us Jack and the bean stock this is one of the things I remember her letting us do.I also remember the teacher letting us cut out peices of green construction paper and twisten them so they look like bean stalks and then we decorated them with stickers and such. Preschool is so fun!

  3. tin foil

  4. definitely have the kids reenact the story.

Then just trace an adult male's foot = it will be huge to them and they can do collages on it or paint their foot beside it

Make a beanstalk with a toilet paper tube painted green and then a tiny Jack climbing up.  Just use clip art to find a tiny Jack.

Have a goose with gold glitter on the eggs.

  5. cut shapes of or teapot cups and saucers, ask your students or family members to help u and decorate and paint them

  6. how about getiing them to make their own bean stalks and using duplo or lego people to show them the story or magic csrpet ride up the bean stalk and encorage the children to dream up what is in this giant land.  aslo use adult chairs and tables in role play soz not very arty

  7. Look on www.ttsgroup.co.uk for craft things-theres some stuff on their thats like paper mache but easier!

Why not ask parents to bring in old wellies or old boots (adults) kids can decorate them-its 3D, interesting and fun! Also compared to their feet it is giant :)

    IDeas:

-Plant real beans? to make it more arty they can decorate pots! Or you make pretend ones with a cup with hole in bottom-pipe cleaner for beanstalk and children can push it up and down to show it 'growing'.

Puppets: Use gloves and glue on eyes and things or make paper puppets and children can maek up their own version of the book!

  8. Shoes - corrugated cardboard / opened cardboard boxes rolled into 2 tube shapes, 1 end of each cut on a slant and taped together so they form an 'L' shape. For the toe end, you can cut and attach a D shape, with the straight line at the bottom. then covered with newspaper, by you, to strengthen. When dry they can be painted  and you can add string (pushed through holes) for laces.

Cup - as above with circle of cardboard taped on bottom and strip of box taped for handle. Cover all with newspaper, then paint

Teapot - as above, then tape crumpled sheets of newspaper to get the desired rounded shape, covered with large sheets of newspaper until it is strong enough to paint.

You could make a giant plate with a giant cardboard sandwich on too - green tissue for lettuce , cardboard cheese/tomato painted etc .

add big books for the giant to read with giant cardboard glasses.

cardboard painted gold for money .

Harp shape double thickness with string stuck between pieces, bottom opened out as a stand (sort of like this 'JL') and find some harp music to play.

Oooh, stop me - I'm on a roll now!

  9. Perhaps you can make a large vine up to ceiling. For the leaves have the students trace their hands on a green paper. You pick one child and trace their body and make it look like they are climbing the vine.

    Act out story

Have a tea part w/ teeny tiny cups

Have children put objects from smallest to largest

  10. Use card board boxes as your base. shoe boxes for the shoes obviously. try to use other bits cut out of boxees as your template for cups and saucers.
