Wigan Athletics chief executive, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hugo-Rodallega-c16414 in January.
The striker is set to be without a contract on the 1st of July and with him not putting pen to paper on a new deal with the club, he is set to become a free agent.
The team had the option of profiting off of his sale, but they chose to keep a hold of him till his contract ran out.
Wigan wanted to keep hold of the forward, as they felt he could help them avoid relegation and stay afloat in the Premier League. In the end, the team did manage to secure the fifteenth spot in the league, but they are now set to pay the price as Rodallega
walks out of the club.
So far, the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and QPR have been linked with a move for the striker, but Rodallega is going to decide just what the future holds for him, once his contract comes to an end.
Jackson, when talking about the forward and the decision that the club made in January is quoted to have said: "For any transfer to take place, there has to be agreement with three parties.”
"Both clubs and the player have to want the deal to happen - and we never achieved that with regards to Hugo.”
"We moved on, and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hugo-c16384 was our player for the rest of the season. At the time it was the right decision, and that remains the case."
The striker had initially joined the team in the January transfer window of 2009. Since then he went on to make a hundred and seventeen appearances for the team and picked up twenty four goals along the way.
The twenty six year old was being eyed by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 at one point, because of the form that he was showing for Wigan.
However back then the team didn’t move in for the player because Wigan were making unreasonable claims for him.
Nonetheless, with the team now set to lose him for free, they might slowly realise the mistake that they have made, despite them thinking otherwise.
