i found a gibson sg special used for the same price as a jackson dxmg, i think the sg would hold it's retail value longer. but the jackson has a warrenty. like rock, hard rock, heavy metal ect.

  1. An SG is a far better investment. If you need a heavier sound then get a guitar tech to put different pickups in. Keep the Gibson pickups in case you want to sell the SG in the future.

  2. SG

  3. From personal preference, I'd go with the SG. The warranty is a good selling point but as you said the SG would hold it's retail value longer (if kept in good condition as I'm sure you'd know that and keep it in good condition) so you'd get more for your buck if you ever planned to sell it. It also depends on the style you want to play. I see Jackson's as the metal guitar while an SG is just all around rock'n'roll. So if you're into the heavy, deep metal go with the Jackson otherwise the Gibson sounds great.
