I've been looking for a while now, and I have narrowed my choices down to an Ibanez (S or RG), or a Jackson (Dinky). I would like to hear your opinion on which one is better, or suggest other models...

  1. It's my opinion that the Ibanez RG series are great for playing aggressive music, but that's about it. On the other hand, I think that Dinky's tend to have a little more versatility, especially for more trebly stuff - cleans, effecty cleans, leads, etc.

The RG seems to be a little meatier, but in such a way that it doesn't seem like it would work well outside of metal and hard rock.

I've played my Jackson for quite a while now... it can do pretty much anything I want it to. It doesn't have a lot of low end, though, so it's hard to get that "chunka" sound out of it. Great for lead and 'Marshall" sounding rhythm, but don't expect nu metal or great detuned metal out of it.

Unless you put a super fat humbucker in it?

  2. I've been looking into buying a new guitar, and im really looking into buying a Jackson. They're really sharp looking, and sound extremely good. I'm going to test some out tomorrow at the guitar center so i'll come back and tell you which ones are good :D
