Jacksonville Jaguars’ DT Terrance Knighton publically apologises for club fight-NFL News
Jacksonville Jaguars’ defensive tackle, Terrance Knighton, has for the first time stepped forward to amend the damage done to his and Jaguars’ reputation as a result of his fight in a local night club a month ago.
Knighton has come out with a public apology to his organisation and city of Jacksonville over his action stemming from the fight.
In the consolatory remarks to his organisation and local fans, the player said he was regretful for "embarrassing them with the actions that happened that night."
He added:
"I have a job to do, and right now I can't do it because of my actions that night. I could have avoided the situation and not tried to break it up. That's what club security is for. Me seeing a friend, I tried to help. It's a lesson learned."
The incident, happened in April, had stemmed from Knighton’s efforts to break up a fight between his friend and another person at the club. It then led to his involvement, resulting in injuries to his head and eye.
The latest statement was his first formal admission of involvement in the incident.
Following confirmation of the incident, Jaguars said that the player had stitches on the eye and head to get the problems rectified. He is still recovering from them.
He said the recovery is going at fast pace, but he still have some minor problems with the eye. He added:
"It's a lot better. Still a little blurry, just basically waiting on my left eye to catch up with my right eye. Each doctor appointment I go to it's looking better. They're happy about the recovery and how fast it's going."
It is not clear yet if Knighton will be facing any disciplinary action in court, by the National Football League (NFL) or his team, given the police report mentioning that the player and his friend had threatened to shoot people.
While denying it, the DT said he has learnt his lesson and will try not to be in the situation like that again in future.
