Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blaine Gabbert listed probable, faces real challenge vs Indianapolis Colts
The Jacksonville Jaguars have listed quarterback Blaine Gabbert as probable for the road game versus Indianapolis Colts this Sunday despite the fact that the second-year offence leader returned from a hamstring injury to practice with teammates for third
consecutive full session on Friday.
Blaine suffered the injury in the game against the Houston Texans last weekend which proved to be a performance disaster for him and the team. He is now reportedly fit and has been taking full part in the team training this week.
Yet the Jaguars have listed him as probable, and in spite of him appearing set to play the Colts game, his participation is expected to be a game-time decision.
Blaine’s injury that had come with the game almost halfway through was a lucky break from disappointing performance which he ended with the fewest yards (53) ever achieved by him and as a matter of record by any of the franchise player.
He helped himself to the sidelines with signs of sheer embarrassment apparent more than the pain and later was examined by the team medical staff in the locker room. It was probably in his favour that he did not return to the field again and the team lost
the game which nevertheless was one-sided from beginning to end.
First-year coach Mike Mularkey did not have much to say and he has still maintained a mum. In reality, the time is running out for Blaine, as a couple of more failings will certainly add to the difficulties for the quarterback.
A real test of his skills is in front of Colts rookie QB Andrew Luck, and while Blaine himself plays like a rookie, there is a chance that Luck will outdo him by a far and clear margin.
This might also be the last chance for Blaine to prove himself as Mularkey might not wait for him to perform better as much as the former coach Del Rio did. Mularkey has already put the quarterback on a warning to improve or think of alternatives.
