Jacksonville Jaguars’ WR Justin Blackmon, Houston Texans’ Andre Johnson set new record – NFL News
A new chapter in the National Football League (NFL) history was written by Jacksonville Jaguars’ rookie receiver Justin Blackmon and Houston Texans’ WR Andre Johnson who for the first time became the two receivers to catch for over 200 yards each in a single
game.
Before them no two receivers had caught for over 200 yards each in a single game, and the feat is even more encouraging for rookie Blackmon who broke through the shackles, finally, to show his real potential on the field.
On the other end he was veteran Andre Johnson whose timely return to form happened to be saviour of the Texans’ cause. They were trailing when Johnson scored last 48-yarder touchdown for them.
Johnson caught total 14 passes for a total of 273 yards while his counterpart with the Jags, Blackmon, gained 236 yards. His notable was an 80-yard catch for a touchdown.
Blackmon is rated to be the most talented rookie that has arrived in Jacksonville. He had been struggling to find form until last game when he ran for over 200 record yards. Unfortunately, Blackmon ended up on the losing side but his performance was a winner’s
performance.
It was also one of the best performances for Johnson, who struggled to stay fit a season earlier in 2011. He missed as many as nine games with a hamstring injury but since his return this year he has maintained good health and superb form.
Johnson has remained crucial to the offensive strategy of the team. He, QB Matt Schaub and running back Arian Foster form a formidable trio who once get going can hardly be stopped. It is the main offensive strategy that almost all games are played on its
strength.
Anyone of them can click to form in a game and the team relies on his talent and experience to record victory. A game earlier it was their strong defensive show-off that they cruised through a win and now it is again an offensive effort to record another
thrilling win over the Jags in front of the home-crowd who enjoyed the record-making tie.
