Jacksonville Jaguars claim TE Brett Brackett off Philadelphia Eagles’ waivers – NFL News
The Jacksonville Jaguars have made some final adjustments to their roster as they head to embark upon a new beginning in the league under the leadership of new owner Shahid Khan and head coach Mike Mularkey.
No other team has witnessed so much transformation as the Jaguars did over the course of last year, and especially after the side changed the ownership hands from previous owner Wayne Weaver to the existing Pakistan-born American businessman.
A process of gradual but consistent changes has been in implementation since Khan accepted reign of the team after clearing regulatory hurdles in January this year, and so far a number of players have left or joined, and even some cases re-joined the side,
either as a regulatory requirement or as a routine reshuffling.
Soon after coming out of the preseason phase the team had let go several players to re-sign a majority of them to the practice squad later on, while releasing a couple of others.
The Jaguars just like all other franchises were required to meet the 53-player squad deadline until past Friday. It is a mandatory requirement of the regulator, just before all teams enter the regular season.
As per the reshuffle, the Jaguars have released injured tight end Zach Miller. The player who sustained a calf injury in the preseason still has a chance to report back to the team provided he clears the waivers, and not claimed by any other team.
The team has also claimed tight end Brett Brackett off the Philadelphia Eagles. His signing looked inevitable and is expected to improve situation on the position, following exit of Miller. Another tight end Matt Veldman is already on the injured reserve
list.
Meanwhile, the team has signed more than half a dozen players to the practice squad, after availing their services for a similar purpose at training camp.
Those signed are quarterback John Parker Wilson, defensive end Ryan Davis, guard D.J. Hall, offensive lineman Daniel Baldridge, linebacker Joshua Jones, receiver Mike Brown and tight end Will Ta’ufo’ou.
