Jacksonville Jaguars coach Mike Mularkey confirms RB Maurice Jones-Drew questionable – NFL News
Jacksonville Jaguars coach Mike Mularkey has confirmed that running back Maurice Jones-Drew is questionable this Sunday and there is a greater possibility that the player misses eighth straight game with a foot injury.
Maurice did not return to practice on Wednesday and according to the coach, who himself just returned from hospital after being admitted for an overnight with an unknown illness, the player was “very questionable” for the weekend game.
This is the consecutive eighth week that the player is out nursing foot injury. It is a rather longer period for the running back to remain absent from the field. He returned to the Jags for the first time since missing the entire offseason and training
camp, and after playing a few games went on the sideline with the foot injury.
It is a great setback for the team who are already suffering on the offensive line with an injured quarterback Blaine Gabbert, running back Rashad Jennings and RB Jalen Parmele.
Only backup quarterback Chad Henne is fit and playing for the survival of the team, without much success, though. The Jags have managed only a pair of wins in the entire season so far. With three more games to go in the regular season they have no chance
whatsoever for a playoff berth, even if they win all their games.
Mike Mularkey who himself was hospitalised with an unknown injury apparently lacks an answer to the team’s continued woes. It is even worse season for the Jags, given they manage a 5-11 season last year. They can match that level if they win their next three
games, which seems an impossible task.
A particular point to note here is that in view of the above explained injuries, their offensive line is completely depleted and their defence hardly stands a chance in front teams like the New York Jets.
With Jones-Drew likely out for this week, the Jags expect some boost on the offensive line next week, but again it will be dependent on the availability of Rashad, Jalen and Jones-Drew.
