Jacksonville Jaguars coach Mike Mularkey says RB Maurice Jones-Drew’s injury not season ending - NFL News
The trouble-hit Jacksonville Jaguars have ruled out that the injury to their running back Maurice Jones-Drew is a season-ending one but confirmed his availability for the next couple of games is doubtful.
Jones-Drew had been appearing on the sidelines for the last two games since injuring his foot. He has so far remained in the walking boots reflecting on the inability to play against the Indianapolis Colts this Thursday and may even miss the next game as
well.
Coach Mike Mularkey while confirming his ousting for the next game said the player is keen to stage a comeback but for both sides his health and fitness are essential therefore they are not taking him back for the next game.
Mike said:
"Every game that he stands on that sideline, he gets healed a little more just because he wants to play."
The coach more or less described the player’s situation will be determined on game-to-game basis.
Mularkey at the same denied if the RB’s injury will cost him the entire season, which, if happens, will be very costly development for the team indeed, at a time when they are struggling to find the second win of the season.
The only opposition they have beaten so far are the Indianapolis Colts and the team will be looking to repeat that performance once again. The absence of the RB does not bode well with their hopes of a clean-sweep against their divisional rivals.
Rashad Jennings will start in place of Jones-Drew in the Colts game and may be in the game after it. Apparently, the coach did not elaborate if Jones-Drew’s absence will have an impact on their performance, which is already far below the mark.
Some commentators nevertheless see the team being affected due to departure of the running back. He for his experience and skills remains the key offence member, which with struggling quarterback Blaine Gabbert might end up with an even worse performance
without Jones-Drew in the side.
The time is fast running out for the Jaguars to put up some respectable tally of numbers on the leagues ratings table. Their current position is not mentionable at all.
