Jacksonville Jaguars confirm Mike Mularkey in hospital with unknown illness – NFL News
The Jacksonville Jaguars confirmed their coach Mike Mularkey was kept in a hospital on Monday night because of an unknown illness and said they expect him to join them again on Tuesday (Dec. 11).
A section of media cited information emerging from the team’s headquarters that the coach showed up at the team’s training facility on Monday morning and then complained of some illness. He was helped by the team’s trainer who then took him to a nearby hospital.
Later, some reports said the official underwent medical examination but apparently outcome of the tests and details around the illness were not made public. The trainer who took him to the hospital said that the coach was kept in the hospital overnight but
expected to be out and back with the team on Tuesday.
Again, the trainer did not provide details what exactly the illness was, more specifically if it was anything related to stress etc. It is pertinent to note that Mularkey is not a happy man these days as his team has lost nine of last 10 games and the situation
is nowhere getting better for him.
The Jags with two wins in the league stand at 31st in offence and defence departments. This is probably not what Mularkey planned for the team before the season. There are three more games to go and if the team is able to win at least a pair of
them, it might be some consolation for the coach.
At present, the Jags stay at bottom on the league’s standings chart, two games behind the rivals Tennessee Titans and far behind American Football Conference (AFC) South rivals and leaders the Houston Texans. The Texans are already through to the playoffs,
while the Indianapolis Colts are a win away from the second round.
Meanwhile, in addition to the coach’s illness, the team has regularly been suffering on the players end as well. They have played a majority of games without running back Maurice Jones-Drew More. Lately, they have lost quarterback Blaine Gabbert, while linebackers
Clint Session and Daryl Smith and wide receiver Cecil Shorts have further extended the list of the injuries.
