Jacksonville Jaguars’ continued slump frustrates first-year coach Mike Mularkey – NFL News
The continued slump in form of the Jacksonville Jaguars has frustrated coach Mike Mularkey who while admitting sheer disappointment over the team’s performance came furious in response to a media query questioning effort by the team.
Now the official has tendered an unconditional apology saying he should have not responded the question that way, and added that he as a coach always takes the matter of players and other members of the organisation very seriously.
Mularkey said:
"I am sorry that I responded like I did, but I don't like questioning effort because that's very important to me. If there's anything that I come in stressing as a coach and as a staff it's players effort. I would say some of the intensity was not as intense
as we should have been."
But he admitted:
"I'm disappointed that we are where we're at. I know the players are. I certainly know the fans are. I just want them to know how they feel, we feel the same way. We're mad, too, very disappointed we're in this position.”
Although the coach has not mentioned it, a particular ruing point is the team’s failing at their home-ground. Their only win of the season is on-road versus the Indianapolis Colts. This shows they are equally bad performer at home and on-road, some commentators
has questioned the team’s inability to pull off victories at their doorsteps.
Apparently, all members of the organisation are baffled to know what and where they look at and rely on. Only player that has made an impression on the field is running back Maurice Jones-Drew. He outclassed Colts defences in the only win of the team. It
is rather unfortunate that the player is going to miss the home-game this week versus the Colts, which is second game of the series.
Mularkey remains confident as much as he had been in the past but it is yet to be seen what strategy he comes with against the Colts to ensure a victory for them to end home-game win drought.
