Jacksonville Jaguars face tough workout schedule at training camp from July 27 – NFL News
The Jacksonville Jaguars are set to start their training camp on July 27 and the players have been asked to report to the camp a day earlier, on July 26.
According to the schedule announced by the management, the team will have total eight training sessions to close the camp on August 05 as far as workout activity is concerned, but for the next couple of weeks, until August 19, the official
last day of the camp, it will be open to media.
It is expected that the camp will be open to public for the entire tenure but the players are not allowed to speak to media or interact with anyone else.
Jaguars are embarking upon on a new journey in the franchise history. They will be for the first time with new owner, Shahid Khan and new head coach, Mike Mularkey.
The camp is not going to be an easy ride for the players as the temperatures are expected to hit higher degree. The players will have to work under very hot summer conditions.
However, most of the workout and training activity is scheduled on early mornings and late afternoons, which can provide the players some consolation to tough weather conditions.
Coach, Mike Mularkey, said of the situation:
“We’re going to be in the heat around 11 o’clock in the morning when we’re doing team [11-on-11 drills]. That’s the hottest part, and then they’ll have time to recover. We’ll give them a big break from practice, to get over the practice,
get to the hotel and off their feet and then come back for a walk-through. Once the hard practice is over, the rest of the day is a little bit about recovering.”
The management believes the players have been given the relaxing schedule to quickly become accustomed to local weather conditions.
Mularkey will supervise the entire training camp. He has joined the team into the capacity of a head coach earlier this year and looks ready to take up the challenge.
His main focus is expected to be the second-year quarterback, Blaine Gabbert, who has been given the task of clearly improving in form and performance from last year's dismal note.
