Jacksonville Jaguars hope OT Eugene Monroe’s injury not concussion – NFL News
The Jacksonville Jaguars appear set to lose left offence tackle Eugene Monroe for rest of the season with a head injury, which could possibly be a concussion, but the team is officially yet to confirm if it is a season-ending injury.
Coach Mike Mularkey said they were evaluating the tackle’s injury and once the status is confirmed they should be able to say the final word about his recovery and return to action.
Mike said:
"We're just going to make sure he's fine. I don't think it's anything serious, but we'll check it out."
Eugene suffered the blow during the team’s routine drills at training camp on Wednesday and was taken on the sidelines first then to the locker room on a cart. From his condition the player did not look comfortable at all but the team is apparently waiting
for results of doctor’s inspection to officially confirm nature and status of the injury.
The tackle is certainly out of Jaguars’ next preseason game against the New Orleans Saints this Friday and if the injury is a concussion his immediate career prospects are on the line as well.
It will be a rather serious setback to Eugene’s pro career if he suffers a concussion at this stage. The injury requires a lengthy period for recovery and rehab from but most disappointing part is the risk of frequent return of symptoms associated to the
head injuries.
A concussion is likely to cost him more than half of the season, if not the entire season.
The development then should also be a drawback for Jaguars as the player is a crucial part of their offensive strategy, having complete confidence of the head coach and offensive coordinator.
Until the time of filing this report on Wednesday, the test results were awaited by the team, and the entire situation was down on the hopes and optimism of the team’s officials that Monroe returns to action fine and fit without any longer delay.
