Jacksonville Jaguars president Mark Lamping says ticket sale no link to air home games – NFL News
The Jacksonville Jaguars have expressed confidence there will not be any vacant seat pockets in the team’s stadium this season and even if there are empty seats they will not impede their decision of allowing all home games be on air without any issue whatsoever.
A number of measures introduced this year by the team are expected to pay off them in terms of filling the stadium up to its seating capacity, but according to president Mark Lamping, this is not a conditionality to broadcast their home games.
The official said the team has decided to telecast live all their matches irrespective of situation about the ticket sales. He said they are not going to seek an extension from the National Football League (NFL) under new rules that govern broadcast of games
live.
Mark said the ticket sales have received a boost as a result of a number of incentives that the Jaguars have announced for prospective spectators or fans of the team.
These incentives include allowing those babies ticket-free into the game who sit on their parents’ or guardians’ laps, spectators can take food into the stadium to avoid buying costly meals or refreshments inside, empty seats are available at as much lower
cost as $20 a seat and if the spectators buy a certificate before the game against the number of seats they book they can redeem unused tickets on the certificate.
The president said:
"We don't sell tickets to get our game on TV. We sell tickets to generate revenue and have a stable franchise. And almost just as important is to have the stadium full so that we have a home-field advantage. Whether the game is on TV or not, that's just
sort of a by product. That's not our goal."
About the incentives package, he said:
"We wanted to eliminate those policies that were barriers to fans attending games. The outside perception is that no one goes to the games here, that games are always blacked out here. So now there won't be that talk. All the games will be on television."
Mark said these measures have been taken to fill the vacant seat pockets in the stadium, which often have led to rumours that the team might relocate to another city in future.
