Jacksonville Jaguars sign OT Troy Kropog off Tennessee Titans waivers – NFL News
After losing some key linemen to respective injury problems, the Jacksonville Jaguars have attempted to improve the situation with hiring of offensive tackle Troy Kropog off Tennessee Titans’ waivers.
Troy is another signing of the team after the season start as the tight finish to the game against the Minnesota Vikings has led Jaguars to focus on the line.
Terms of the player’s deal have not been disclosed by the team, player or his agent. Some independent reviews claim it to be a year-long contract, which more or less is a general or average tenure of deals like this one.
With arrival of the tackle, the team has let guard Josh Beekman go rather unceremoniously – he had given up a coaching job in the college league to try his luck in the National Football League (NFL) as a player again. It is rather a disappointing beginning
but it nevertheless does not end prospects for him and he can still find another team to fulfil his ambition.
The new signee Troy was selected in the fourth round in the 2009 NFL draft. He is expected to join the Jaguars’ another lineman Herb Taylor, who was signed this week off Green Bay Packers' waivers.
It is hoped they will provide a solution to the team’s woes on offensive depth to an extent. The Jaguars have placed four linemen on the injured reserve (IR) list. They are Jason Spitz, John Estes, Drew Nowak and Will Rackley. John Estes plays at centre
while the other three at guard, and after their ousting, the team lacked strength at those positions.
Further, offensive guards Uche Nwaneri, Eben Britton and Cam Bradfield are also dealing with minor injuries. The good news on their end is that they have returned to limited and full practice, respectively, but the team still does not want to wait until
the end to see if they are hundred percent and ready to play. Instead, it utilised the opportunity available off the Titans’ waivers and signed Troy straightaway.
He said to be happy over the outcome of the deal and is ready to hit the field from next game.
