Jacksonville Jaguars vs Houston Texans – Sunday Week 12: NFL Preview
In a total American Football Conference (AFC) south showdown, the Jacksonville Jaguars will host Houston Texans this Sunday.
The Jaguars are coming off their loss against Cleveland Browns 14-10 past Sunday. A poor show by their offense brought the Jaguars downfall. Speaking to the media about their loss, Coach Del Rio said, "If I could do it again, I'd
like that play to be pulled off a little quicker so that we would get a fourth down there. In the end, we had two really, really good looks at the end zone - well-designed plays that gave us a chance."
The Jacksonville Jaguars into week 10 of current season of National Football League (NFL), American football's premier league, were the only team with comparatively less ratio of injuries. However, two weeks later the situation
has changed. Their key players are out of the game including linebacker Clint Session who was placed on the injured reserve list following a concussion. Also out because of injury is Rashean Mathis.
The Jaguars currently stand 3-7 in the AFC South points table. Their home wins equal their losses 2-2 while on road they have lost four games out five they played, at 1-5.
Meanwhile, Texans will also be missing their key starter Matt Schaub, who has been ruled out of current football season. They, however, have expressed confidence into Matt Leinart, Schaub's replacement. He will be starting for
the first time for Texans this weekend.
"I've just got a job to do, be efficient and get the guys and this team in the right situation," Leinart said. "I'm extremely bummed for Matt, just because of what he's put into this organization and to get us to this point. At
the same time, it's an opportunity for myself to step up."
Schaub was back at practice on Thursday, just before his surgery, to help guide his replacement. The new quarterback is also likely to get some help from Andre Johnson who is expected to play for Texans this weekend.
Standing on a four-game winning streak, the Texans are leading AFC South with a 7-3 mark. The Texans will come off their bye week. They had last visited and defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 37-9 in Week 10.
Given the Jaguars inability to sustain their performance throughout the game, and the Texans four game winning streak, the odd seems in the latter’s favour. However, the only question for them will be how good Leinart performs
at quarterback's starting position and whether the absence of Matt Schaub might prove costly for them.
