Jacob Hansford accomplishes Boys 400m freestyle gold – 2013 GHSF Australian Championships
Jacob Hansford of Atlantis accomplished gold medal of the Boys 400m freestyle on first day of the 2013 GHSF Australian Age Swimming Championships in SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre, Adelaide on Monday, April 8.
The 17-year-old Hansford lived up to the expectations of his supporters in the mediocre distance freestyle discipline and made his way towards the finishing wall for first position.
With his unrelenting efforts in the race, Hansford showed no leniency to his competitors in the eight lap race and surfaced on the finishing end for gold medal by producing an effort of 3 minutes and 57.98 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Isaac Jones of Warrnambool, who was 1.39 seconds behind and secured second position of the race by touching the wall with the timing of 3 minutes and 59.37 seconds.
The second best finisher was followed by Brad Ashby of New Zealand, who was only 0.14 seconds slower from his former finisher and tapped the wall for third position with the timing of 3 minutes and 59.51 seconds.
The bronze medallist was followed by Jack Gerrard of Melbvicentre, who was only 0.06 seconds apart and settled on the finishing end for sixth place with the timing of 3 minutes and 59.57 seconds.
Fifth position of the race was obtained by Sean Maloney of UNAN, who was nearly 0.80 seconds slower and concluded his race in a time of 4 minutes and 00.32 seconds.
Maloney was chased by Alec Morris of Woden, NSW, who stayed considerably slower from his foregoing finisher and hit the wall with an effort of 4 minutes and 04.39 seconds for sixth place.
Seventh fastest spot of the event was obtained by Jack McLoughlin of Nudgee, who was 1.15 seconds behind and clocked an effort of 4 minutes and 05.54 seconds.
Subsequently, McLoughlin was trailed by Osca Breakwell of Yeronga Park, who was 0.80 seconds slower and emerged on the finishing end with an effort of 4 minutes and 06.34 seconds.
Furthermore, Hansford was overjoyed with his notable pace in the playoff and received accolades at the medal distribution ceremony of the event.
