New Zealand all-rounder, Jacob Oram, was disappointed after he was forced to sit out his team’s last T20 and the subsequent 3-match ODI series against South Africa owing to an injured left calf.
“It's hugely disappointing to miss playing against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757,” said Oram. “I felt pretty good in the matches against Zimbabwe and was looking forward to the series. I hate missing matches for New Zealand but I'm confident I can return to cricket injury-free
following a course of rehabilitation. I hope to be back playing in about a fortnight.”
Oram was an integral part of the Kiwi squad which whitewashed http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 earlier this month (taking 3 wickets and scoring 84 runs in two innings), before sustaining a calf injury which put him out of action. According to the team physio, Paul Close, the injury
would not have been serious enough to bench the left-handed batsman, had it not been for the hectic schedule of the series, which would not have allowed the 33-year-old to recover fully.
In addition to the 3 ODI matches, the South African tour also includes a Test series, but Oram retired from Test cricket in 2009, after playing his last match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 will be
touring the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 in June, during which the left-hander hopes to rejoin the team.
Meanwhile, the right-hand batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dean-Brownlie-c1349 will also be sitting out the remaining series, due to a fractured finger, while the 19-year-old Tom Latham, who made an impressive debut against Zimbabwe this month (scoring 48 in the second ODI played at Whangarei),
has been dropped from the squad. Filling these three empty slots are pacer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746.
