Jacob Oram to retire if not called for the World Cup
The Kiwi’s have been under immense scrutiny after the embarrassing series defeat at the hands of the minnows http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 cricket board and it is more than evident that
their side requires some much needed consistency. To attain such consistency they will have to rely on senior players and Jacob Oram is certainly one such player who has helped the Kiwis in their times of distress.
The all rounder has now come forward and expressed his ambition of participating in the 2011 World Cup. He has admitted that despite his injury ridden career, it was the World Cup that has consistently provided him with a source of motivation and inspiration.
However he did say that if he is not picked for his side, then he would contemplate retirement from international cricket.
"I remember talking to Shane Bond prior to his retirement, when he had that abdominal strain, and he told me that, for him, that was the one injury too many. I think I'm at that point and in that mindset right now.”
Oram’s burgeoning career has been marred by multiple injuries to his knee, calf, back and the Achilles tendon. Due to the injuries he has been in and out of the New Zealand side and has had a rather sporadic career. In August the all rounder was yet again
troubled by a recurring patella tendon injury during their tri series being played in Dambula http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 however the all rounder
hopes that he will be able to get back in action by Christmas at the end of the year for the domestic T20 tournament of New Zealand.
