Jacob Pebley clinches Men’s 400m IM meet: Day three – 2011 USA Swimming Sectionals, Mount Hood
Jacob M Pebley conquered gold medal of Men’s 400m Individual Medley on the third day of the 2011 USA Swimming Sectionals, held in Mount Hood, on Thursday, July 21.
Pebley, who qualified as the second fastest swimmer, shifted up his pace in the final rounds to collect the gold medal of the distant IM event. He captured the title by submitting a winning time of 4 minutes and 27.67 seconds. His time was almost twenty-four
seconds behind Michael Phelps’s world and American record of 4 minutes and 03.84 seconds, set during 2009.
In addition, he missed Jody Braden’s meet record of 4 minutes and 25.61 seconds by only 2.06 seconds, made by Braden in 1992. Nonetheless, his time was prominently under FINA’s Olympic Trials qualification standard of 4 minutes and 30.49 seconds.
He was followed by Nolan C Tesone of North Jeffco Swim Team, who stayed 0.39 seconds behind the gold medallist and reported in a time of 4 minutes and 28.06 seconds. The bronze medal was obtained by Trevor Levalley of Mighty Marlins S, who posted a third
fastest time of 4 minutes and 32.10 seconds.
The fourth fastest spot of the swim was earned by Clayton Myers of DU Hilltoppers-C, who stayed nearly two seconds behind the bronze medallist and posted a time of 4 minutes and 34.76 seconds. Myers’s team-member, Daria Brunetti followed him on the concluding
wall, by submitting a time of 4 minutes and 35.87 seconds.
Brandon Fischer of Wyoming Aquatics was the sixth best swimmer of the final round, as he ended his swim in a time of 4 minutes and 37.13 seconds. He was followed by Eric A May of North Jeffco Swim Team and Derek Knittle of Sun Devil Aquatic, who were the
seventh and eighth position holders, as they clocked a time of 4:38.11 and 4:38.53 minutes, respectively.
In addition, the arena enjoyed the stupendous efforts of all participants, while the position holders were awarded with medals for their unmatchable swims in the final rounds.
