Jacob Pebley secures Men’s 200m backstroke gold – US Open Swimming Championships
Jacob Pebley of Corvallis Aquatics secured gold medal of the Men’s 200m backstroke on day two of the 2012 US Open Swimming Championships at Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis on Wednesday, August 8.
The 18-year-old Pebley remained prominently ahead of his opponents throughout the distant backstroke swim. He faced no trouble from his challengers and transpired on the wall for the crown of the event.
With his unimaginable efforts, Pebley showed his urgency towards the finishing blockade for the title of the discipline in a time of 1 minute and 57.57 seconds.
His title claiming effort remained 0.57 seconds faster from John Conger of Rockville Montgomery Swim Club, who stood on the finishing blockade for silver medal by submitting a time of 1 minute and 58.14 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Eric Ress of Santa Clara Swim Club, who stayed 0.28 seconds apart and finished third in the event by reporting an effort of 1 minute and 58.42 seconds.
Ress was chased by Cory Chitwood of Northern KY Clip, who remained just 0.71 seconds slower from him and finished fourth in the race by submitting a time of 1 minute and 59.13 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the discipline was secured by Josh Beaver of Australia, who stayed only 0.15 seconds apart and posted a time of 1 minute and 59.28 seconds for fifth position.
Beaver was chased by Craig McNally of Great Britain, who stayed only 0.02 seconds slower and touched the finishing end as sixth best swimmer with a timing of 1 minute and 59.30 seconds.
Subsequently, McNally enjoyed an advantage of 0.38 seconds over Andrew Teduits of Wisconsin Aquatics, who surfaced on the finishing blockade as seventh fastest swimmer by clocking a time of 1 minute and 59.68 seconds.
Teduits was traced by James Lendrum of Trojan Swim Club, who was 0.09 seconds apart and completed his race in eighth best place by submitting a time of 1 minute and 59.77 seconds.
Pebley was pleased with his form in the 200m discipline and articulated his desire of accomplishing the same at forthcoming swimming events.
