Jacobson on his way to second successive title at the TPC River Highlands

The second day at the Travelers Championship was short lived, as there were weather interruptions. The first spell lasted just 70 minutes but then, later on, the day had to be called off due to the rain.
At the end of day two, a familiar face was leading the Travelers Championship. Fredrik Jacobson, the defending champion, is on the course to lift his second successive title at the TPC River Highlands.
After round two Jacobson was atop the leaderboard. It is the second straight year that saw Jacobson shooting a 66 with 9-under par overall.
It is also the second year in a row during which the rain has pushed round two’s proceedings on Saturday. Is history repeating itself? Well Fredrik Jacobson would not mind that, he would love to retain his title.
The Swede is making his best effort to follow the footsteps of Phil Mickelson, who is the only player who has successfully defended his title, way back in 2001 and 2002.
Commenting on all the media hype that has been going around, he said, “Any tournament is tough to win. To win two in a row is probably tougher”.
“But you know, you have the thing going for you that you have some good memories to draw from, so hopefully that allows a little bit to increase your chances”.
Meanwhile, David Mathis could not repeat his first round performance and shot a 73, which took him down to T26. He bogeyed the 17th hole and double bogeyed the 16th hole.
Honors of the day went to Blake Adams, who shot a 64 to finish at 7-under par.
The group which included US Open champion Webb Simpson, Masters Champion Bubba Watson, and the current PGA Champion Keegan Bradley had a decent second round.
Simpson finished at 5-under par overall after he shot 69, Bradley with 4-under and Watson with 3-under after he shot 71.
The second round is scheduled to start at the 7 am on Saturday, which will be followed by the third round, with players teeing off in a group of three.
"This place drains great, it is an old gravel pit," said Mark Russell, the PGA Tour's Vice President in charge of rules. "We have got a good forecast for tomorrow, so we will be in business".
