Jacqueline Ong Yan Jun clinches Girl’s Singles U18 title at Merdeka Cup Challenge 2012
Malaysia’s Jacqueline Ong Yan Jun lived up to the expectations as she clinched Girl’s Singles U18 title after punishing her lower ranked compatriot Kaw Meng Shan in the title match at Merdeka Cup Challenge 2012 on Sunday, August 26, in Malaysia.
The in-form Jacqueline, who has been showing her elite skills throughout the event, put up remarkable show of attacking badminton and slaughtered Kaw Meng who was seeded at number two in the main draw.
Top seeded Jacqueline played killing game in both sets by commanding the rallies and remained successful in crushing her country-mate in straight games with a completely lopsided fashion.
Lower ranked Kaw Meng, in the meanwhile, played quivering badminton in the whole contest as she failed to match the class of her top seeded rival and went down to her with a humiliating score on the board.
Jacqueline started her campaign in a confident and attacking fashion as she played with aggression and easily took a staggering lead at the opening stage.
On the other hand, Kaw Meng could not put up strong resistance and remained struggling to return the shots of her rival in the right areas.
The top seeded Jacqueline played with precision and easily established a wonderful lead on score board until the mid-game interval.
After the 60-second break, Jacqueline continued putting up positive run on court as she played positive badminton and remained successful in ending up the opening set with an incredible 21-6 score on the board.
The higher ranked Jacqueline again put up an impressive performance on court as she did not let her opponent to put up strong resistance at the opening stage and took an incredible lead until the end of opening half.
After the one-minute break in second set, Jacqueline played with precision in the concluding phase of opening game as she commanded the rallies all the way to finish off the second set with a staggering margin of 21-9.
The top seeded Jacqueline easily wrapped up victory in this title match in just 20 minutes with a stunning 21-6 and 21-9 score on the board.
