  1. They are not the same. Also, "Jaime" would phonetically be "Jame" like Jane with an "M". To be pronounced the same way as Jamie, it would need to be "Jaimee". It drives me nuts when my students tell me that their names are not pronounced the way they should be phonetically. (Like a boy I had who said his name was "Dominic" but it was spelled "Dominique". Sorry, but that is an "eek" at the end.)

  2. Jackie is the natural nickname for Jacqueline, not Jamie.

  3. no they are not!!!!!

  4. No

  5. no they are both completely different!

  6. I never thought of them as being the same. Jamie is a unisex name and reminds me of James, but defenitely not Jacqueline.

  7. No

  8. Jacqueline ==Jackie==James=Jamie or just Jamie

  9. I don't think they are. I like Jamie for a girl spelled Jaime. It seems more feminine that way.

  10. No they're not.

    Jamie is unisex

    Jacqueline is female

  11. They are different names.

  12. nah.

    jacqueline is very feminie

    while jamie is unisex.

i like both for a girl though.

  13. Well... I am a girl, and my name is Jaime, so I am a bit partial to the name.  However, I like Jacqueline too.

**According to the website below, the names do mean the same (supplanter), but they don't sound the same (of course).

  14. No. I don't think they are the same.

I think Jacqueline is very pretty. And it's unique and uncommon. I've never heard it anywhere.

  15. no they're not lol

  16. How are they the same?

Jacqueline is the french feminine form of Jacques.

While Jamie is a derivative of James.

  17. No, they are different names. They are however both from the same source. Which could be where the whole "they are same" is coming from.

Jacqueline is the feminine version of the Name Jacques.

Jacques is the French form of Jacob.

Jacob is from the latin lacobus, from the Greek Lakobos which was from the hebrew name Ya'aqov in the Old Testament.

Jamie is a diminitive of James

James is from the late latin lacomus it is just a later variation of lacobus, from the Greek Lakobos which was from the hebrew name Ya'aqov.

So both names were born out of the hebrew name Ya'aqov.
