Jacques Kallis dominant yet again in Cape Town
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 made good progress at the start of the fourth day’s play, but the excellence of Jacques Kallis yet again proved to be too much for the Indian bowlers. Before getting all out, the Proteas amassed 341 runs courtesy Kallis.
The veteran all-rounder became the first South African to score a century in both innings of a Test match in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757. There were other South African players who scored centuries in both innings on foreign tours, but none managed to achieve this feat
in their home country.
The Proteas started the day with the score on 52 for two. The team was under pressure soon after the start of the fourth day’s play as two quick wickets fell. The team was at 64 for four, when Kallis was joined by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AB-de-Villiers-c887 in the middle.
Devilliers was out after a 34-run partnership with Kallis, and Ashwell Prince was also not able to score too many runs. At that stage the hosts were struggling at 130 for the loss of six wickets. However, a century partnership between Mark Boucher and Kallis
ensured that the Proteas were out of trouble. Boucher was out after scoring a gritty half century.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Morne-Morkel-c77722 also supported Kallis well, as they made some quick runs to extend the lead to over 300. Steyn scored 32 runs and Morkel got 28 runs before both lost their wickets to Harbhajan Singh. The last wicket to fall was Lonwabo Tsotsobe,
but the star of the show was Kallis, who remained unbeaten on 109.
Both his centuries were two of the best-ever innings, as the ball was doing a lot. The century in the second innings by Kallis was his 40th overall; one more than Australian Captain Ricky Ponting.
The only real threat to the batsmen was Harbhajan. He grabbed seven wickets for 120 runs. Zaheer Khan, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ishant-Sharma-c64566 and Sachin Tendulkar took one wicket each. The last South African wicket fell off the last ball of the day, so India didn’t come out to bat
at all on the fourth day.
India needs 340 runs to win the match, and the series in testing conditions. It will be difficult for the batsmen to chase down this total on the final day, especially with the ball doing a lot.
The home team will be eying a series win by taking ten wickets on the fifth day. They will try to make the Indians work for their runs by attacking the batsmen, and the pitch should make things tricky for the visitors. The first session will be very important
for both the teams to determine the outcome of the match.
