Jacques Kallis is one batsman who can easily be labelled as the most reliable and a prolific batsman in South Africa’s batting line-up.

his side. In the first Test against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, he made his highest Test score and became one of the few batsmen of his country to score a double century.
His 201* including 15 boundaries and 5 towering sixes was a revelation for the Indians as he showed the opposition how to bat under South African conditions. It must be reminded that the pitch was not an easy one to score runs at, but the way Kallis and
other South African batsmen batted on that pitch depicting their class and form.
It is quite amazing to know that a person who has been around for a long time and is considered as one of the best batsman in Cricket has not been able to score a double ton in Test cricket. But the first test against India proved to be a lucky one for Jacques
Kallis, as he was able to make his first double century in Test cricket. All the other batsmen of his calibre have managed to score double hundreds in Test cricket and it was about time that Jacques Kallis should also join this club.
Along with Kallis, Hashim Amla and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AB-de-Villiers-c887 also made impressive hundreds and defied the Indian bowling attack. The good thing about his innings was he did not play any irrational shot and showed complete dominance over the Indian bowlers. The comfort
with which he was playing in the first innings really withered the Indian spirits.
The best thing about Kallis innings was his ability to develop important partnerships with the top batsmen. He first shared a 230-run partnership with Hashim Amla for the third wicket and again contributed in the massive 224-run partnership with AB de Villiers.
The main feature of his innings was to play each bowler on merit and to score when an opportunity was given to him. Kallis played all the bowlers with a lot of ease and score all round the wicket of their bowling. Initially, he went after the part timers
and struck number of impressive sixes off their bowling. For Kallis, the Indian bowling and variety was not threatening enough as he played all of them with ease. He showed a lot of composure in his innings and delivered a strong message to the opposition.
He played many shots through his favourite off side for some lovely drives.
The way he batted for his unbeaten innings was amazing, as he did not show any weakness and vulnerability in his batting. If a batsman is playing with a lot of comfort then the opposition does get in a spot of bother and try different ways of getting him
out.
India tried their best in getting Kallis out, but Kallis stuck to his technique and eased his way to a prolific double hundred. Harbhajan Singh, who was considered as India’s trump card before the series, failed to make any serious impact against Kallis,
as Kallis played him without any trouble.
