Despite his IPL franchise, Kolkata Knight Riders, failing to make it to the tournament semi-finals in the ongoing Champions League T20 in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, veteran all-rounder Jacques Kallis has said that the KKR would return home taking a lot of positives from the esteemed league.
The reigning IPL champions made a disastrous start to their CLT20 campaign, losing their opening two Group A fixtures quite comprehensively. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Auckland-c766 Aces annihilated them by seven wickets.
A washed out game against Perth Scorchers last Wednesday ended KKR’s hopes of making the tournament's final-fours. With nothing to lose, Gambhir and men played aggressive cricket in their final Group A fixture against the in-form Nashua http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Titans-c856, thrashing the local favourites by 99 runs, to bid adieu to the esteemed league on a high.
Kallis, who blamed weather for his side’s failure to reach the tournament semi-finals, said that they go back from the league with plenty of positives.
“The way the guys finished off was of the standard we should be playing with,” said the veteran South Africa all-rounder. “Going into the next IPL we know that we've got a trophy behind us. There are a lot of positives and there's no reason why we cannot win it again,” he added further.
Asked what went wrong for KKR in the first two games, the senior all-rounder said that the slow start did not help them.
“It was probably rustiness or the fact that we're slow starters. You need a bit of luck in this game and perhaps the rub of the green didn't quite go our way,” said the hard-hitting top-order batsman, who also bowls right-arm medium pace. “But in our last two games we've played some really good cricket.”
Kallis said that it was a nice way to end the CLT20 campaign, which started off with some dismal performances, and hoped for the players to regain form, with their respective national and domestic sides, in time for the next year’s Indian Premier League, where they will be defending the title.
