Jacques Rudolph leaves Yorkshire
South African batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jacques-Rudolph-c1619 has left Yorkshire after the county agreed to terminate his contract.
Rudolph was contracted to play for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yorkshire-c867 through the 2011 season but the board voted in favour of allowing the player to leave. The reason behind the decision is due to the fact Rudolph's family could
not settle in England.
"I am indebted to Yorkshire CCC and the ECB for allowing me the opportunity to live and play in England.
Over my four years I have seen the club develop and grow and I will leave knowing the future is bright and in safe hands,"
said Rudolph.
The news will come as a blow to all Yorkshire fans because Rudolph was one of the better players in the club. The county will be hard pushed to find a quality replacement.
A quality player
Rudolph was one of the most experienced players in the Yorkshire team. He's played 35 Test matches for South Africa and brought an air of calm and assurance to the county.
He was versatile in the batting order and this made him hugely popular. Rudolph could open the batting for Yorkshire or bat in the middle order. This was key when the county
picked up injuries.
Rudolph has arguably played the best years of his career at Yorkshire. He joined in 2007 at the age of 25 and would have formed a great relationship with younger players
at the club. They will miss the benefits of his experience.
"Jacques has spent each winter with his family in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 and whilst his wife Elna moved to Leeds
in an attempt to find suitable employment as a doctor, nevertheless this has not worked out as they both would have liked. They are both very keen to start a family and, with an unsettled lifestyle, felt it was impossible to put down roots and make plans for
the future," said a club statement.
Betting advice
Yorkshire is going to be confident next season. The club has a long time to find a good replacement for Rudolph. Don't be afraid to back Yorkshire in the longer or shorter form of the game.
