Jadson Andre shines in heat 5 of the Saquarema Surf Pro International Men’s Round of 96
Jadson Andre of Brazil won heat 5 of the Men’s round of 96 at the 2011 Saquarema Surf Pro International in Brazil on Wednesday, May 25.
Most importantly, Andre captured 9.17 points in the single wave of heat 5 out of 10, while he grabbed 9.03 points in the second wave of the heat at Saquarema.
Andre comprehensively earned first place honours in heat 5 against Stu Kennedy of Australia with a total score of 18.20 to 14.94. Meanwhile, two other Brazilian surfers David do Carmo wound up third with a score of 13.30 and Thiago Camarao settled fourth
with 9.60 points.
After heat 5, Jadson Andre revealed that this was one of his favourite events and held great importance in his surfing schedule. The surfer said that although the conditions weren't ideal for surfing, he still wanted to give his best and prove his worth
at the event.
While speaking to reporters, Andre said, “Actually the conditions aren’t that great for throwing airs because the wind is blowing sideways, away from the lefts. But I’ve got a magic board, I feel confident and I’ve got a special way of setting up aerials
when the wind is like this. I just let the board follow the wind and the wave. Everything went right and I’m happy to begin this event well.”
Earlier, the Australian surfer Lincoln Taylor snagged heat 3 of the Men’s round of 96 with a sterling score of 12.90. His countryman Ben Dunn came second with a total score of 12.40, while Granger Larsen of Hawaii earned third place honours with 12.24 and
Chris Waring of USA wound up fourth with 12.00 points.
Another Brazilian surfer, Bernardo Miranda clinched heat 4 of the Men’s round of 96 with an intriguing score of 12.57. Simao Romao of Brazil earned second place honours with 12.10 points, while his compatriot Heitor Alves finished third with a total score
of 11.57. Hawaiian surfer Tonino Benson settled for fourth place with 11.50 points in that heat at Itauna, Saquarema.
