Men’s Doubles team Jung Jae Sung-Lee Yong Dae raised their chances of quarter-final round entry by stamping Naoki Kawamae-Shoji Sato in group match at Wembley Arena in London Olympics on July 29, 2012.
The second seeded Korean duo proved its class by registering a straight-set win with concluding figures of 21-16 and 21-15 in Group D match.
They will lock horns with spirited Malaysian pair Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong in final encounter of the group stage.
World Number one team Jae Sung-Yong Dae has been tagged as potential Olympic winners and they will put all in their possession to live up to the expectations.
Earlier in their second group stage match, they played impeccable badminton and outclassed their Japanese rivals in all areas of the game.
They struck hard in the opening game and then kept the opposing team under their influence throughout this crucial battle.
The twosome of Naoki and Shoji strived hard to match their competitors’ skills but they could not hit the mark in both games.
In first set, the Koreans pushed them on the back-foot with an intensive assault and got into commanding position.
Jae Sung and Yong Dae were everywhere on the court as they picked the bird early and kept their challengers busy just in returning their masterly crafted strokes.
Their campaign was a nice blend of attack and defence as they did not lose the upper hand at any stage of the first set.
They maintained a decent advantage all the way to game point situation and bagged first match point with a significant difference in 21-16 score.
The second set was also played at same speed as both contenders made every effort to achieve their respective goals.
In the first half, they remained toe-to-toe in the beginning and did not allow each other to establish a comfortable lead but then a couple of productive rallies took Jae Sung-Yong Dae to a dominating position before the interval.
Though, Naoki and Shoji put great fight but it was not enough to unseat the superior rivals who transformed their 1-0 lead into straight-set victory with 21-15 margin on the board.
