Jagdish Singh and Low Juan Shen are favourites to lift title in National Junior Circuit GP Finals
Malaysia’s Boy’s Doubles pair, Jagdish Singh and Low Juan Shen, has become the favourites to lift the title as the top seed pair, Teo Ee Yi and Nelson Heg Wei Keat have skipped
the National Junior Circuit GP Finals 2011.
The tournament is in progress at Bukit Kiara, Malaysia.
Jagdish and Low Juan, the Bukit Jalil Sports School shuttlers, remained lucky in their yesterday’s match against team-mates, Wong Fai Yin and Mohd Razlan Shah, in a rubber-set
match.
Jagdish and Low Juan struggled in the opening set and lost it by a three-point difference of 18-21. The pair fought back and leveled the score by winning the second game by a decent
margin of 21-17.
In the deciding game of the interesting match, Jagdish and Low Juan were behind at 11-15. They worked well and played flawless badminton and won the set by a difference of 21-17.
While talking about their performance after the match, Jagdish said, “We were up against our former team-mates. They know our game and used the advantage very well, constantly
keeping the pressure on us.”
He further added, “It’s a relief we won and we will need to step up a gear and show our true colours in the next match.”
Jagdish also expressed that becoming the favourite for the title creates a huge amount of pressure. The same thing happened to them yesterday, when they played under pressure,
which put them in a critical situation. The duo overcame the circumstances and won the match in the end.
Jagdish said, “All eyes were on us as Nelson-Ee Yi are not in the competition and we lost our focus a bit.”
In the next stage, Jagdish and Low Juan will play against Wan Mas Ami Abu Bakar and Mohd Hazim Jamaruddin from Kelantan state. The match will decide the winner in the Boy’s Doubles
category in the Group C.
Abu Bakar and Mohd Hazim put up a remarkable effort against Yi Jie and Muhammad Farid yesterday. Abu Bakar and Mohd Hazim got rid of the opponents in a three-set match with a 22-24,
21-16 and 21-12 score.
